The International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC)and Translators Association of China (TAC)signed an agreement on interpreter training on April 27, 2013. Linda Fitchett, President of AIIC and Huang Youyi, Vice President and Secretary General of TAC signed the agreement on behalf of their respective associations. The agreement is dedicated to improve the quality of interpretation, especially conference interpretation by combining experience of both associations and strive to meet the market interpretation needs of both Chinese and foreign languages. They also considered cooperations in other interpretation fields including interpreting studies. Huang Changqi, Assistant to President of TAC, Yang Ping, Deputy Secretary General of TAC and Lynette Shi, Director of Conference Interpreters Asian Pacific, a network of AIIC members in the Asian-Pacific region, witnessed the signing ceremony. During her stay, President Fitchett also paid a visit to the Secretariat of TAC, and had a brief communication with some trainees of TAC’s ongoing training program on translation and localization technology and project management.
