TAUS Back in Beijing on April 25-26

March 3, 2016. Amsterdam – After a break of four years, TAUS is coming back to China on April 25-26 for the TAUS Executive Forum. The Game Changers of Localization theme has attracted speakers and participants from Google, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Huawei, Microsoft, Pactera and many delegates from the vibrant Chinese translation industry. The topics on the agenda are data and data sharing, dynamic approaches to translation quality evaluation, machine translation and translation technology use cases, speech translation, post-editing best practices and big innovation ideas. The TAUS Executive Forum will be held at the Sunworld Dynasty Hotel in the center of Beijing.

“TAUS has held Executive Forums four times before in China,” says Jaap van der Meer, director of TAUS. “Our come-back now after a break of four years is inspired by the wave of innovation we are observing in the Chinese translation industry. China’s Digital Silk Road strategy matches very well with the TAUS mission to enable better translation through innovation and automation. We are looking forward to reconnect with the leaders in translation in China and discuss opportunities for collaboration in adopting new technologies and sharing tools, metrics, knowledge, resources and translation data.”

TAUS industry meetings are known for their richness in content and the caliber of people participating. The interactive and dynamic nature of the meetings is reinforced by the round-table set-up of the conference room and plenty of networking opportunities.

The TAUS Executive Forum in Beijing is co-organized by CCID Transtech, a founding member of TAUS, and supported by UTH International, a globalization technology innovator, and members of TAUS. TAUS expects around 120 participants, mostly from buyers and providers of translation services and technologies in China, but also from global buyers outside China. TAC (Translators Association of China) offers a limited number of tickets at a special discounted price of 2,000 RMB to its members.

“We are excited that TAUS is back in China this spring with an Executive Forum,” says Wang Gangyi, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of Translators Association China. “We look forward to working with TAUS in bringing its experience and expertise in translation automation and localization to members of TAC.”

In the past months students from the Beijing Language and Culture University and University of International Business and Economics have worked along with TAUS to translate articles, reports and services provided on the TAUS platform into Chinese.

“This is an interesting project for our students,” says Alex Han, lecturer of the School of Translation and Interpreting at the Beijing Language and Culture University. “We are very pleased that through our efforts we can help make the TAUS resources more accessible for buyers and providers of translation in China.”

The TAUS Executive Forum will be held on April 25 & 26, 2016 at the Sunworld Dynasty Hotel Beijing. Registration for theTAUS Executive Forum in Beijing is now open.
